World Animal Protection Day

On the occasion of the World Animal Protection Day my dog “Mighty Bulls Artful Jörg” and I visited the elementary school “Herz- Maria- Kloster Kongregation der Töchter der göttlichen Liebe” in Vienna. As soon as we entered the school building we could feel the children’s excitement and their pleasure.

When the children had calmed down they started to ask questions. The first one was: “Why is this dog so ugly?” Everybody in the classroom laughed and I answered that dogs of this breed looked so unusual because of their special head. I also told them that you chose your friends because of their character and not because of the way they look. “Everybody wants a faithful and cute friend and for that reason I have a Bull Terrier”, I explained. All children understood my explanation right away.

They had a lot of questions, for example “What does a dog eat?”, “How often do you have to go for a walk?”, “Does he like other animals?” or “What’s his favourite game?”, etc. Of course I replied them. Then I told the children a lot about a dog’s body language and the right handling. All pupils were very interested, asked questions and also gave examples, which demonstrated that they had understood everything I had told them.At the end of the lesson the children caressed “Jörg”, trying to “touch him correctly”, as I had explained them before.

I want to thank all pupils and their teacher, Alexandra Wallner, who made this public relations and education possible! Let’s not forget my Bull Terrier Jörg, whose friendly nature even fascinated children, who had always been afraid of dogs. They finally wanted to touch and caress him!

Jörg took away children’s fear and made them feel safe… THANK YOU JÖRG, it’s good to know that I have such a great Bull Terrier like you by my side. You are the best!

I also want to thank Patricia Langer, who supported our lesson and took these wonderful pictures. In my opinion we made a good contribution to our Bull Terriers.
